April Thompson: Community Ceremony

Leanne Davis speaks with April Thompson about how she found her way into celebrancy, why she came to specialize in funerals, and how she supports families through short, emotionally intense timelines. The conversation covers ritual, family dynamics, soul sketch, and the calm, clear presence April brings to helping people honor a loved one’s life.

You can view April's work in community ceremonies on her Youtube channel. When April and fellow Life-Cycle Celebrant Sally Brucker visited the In America How could this happen… art installation they instantly began planning Grieving America (2020), a community ceremony to support everyone suffering from the loss of loved ones to COVID-19 as well as for our communities impacted by this pandemic in so many ways.

Please disseminate Grieving America (2020) widely – as this is intended for everyone to aid in processing grief and to inspire utmost respect for one another.
