Productive Partnerships: When Your Client Is the Community

April 8th, 2026 @ 8 PM EST
Connecting Our Community

WHAT: Life-Cycle Celebrants serve more than individuals, couples, and families. Celebrant-led community events and rituals can strengthen bonds of belonging and create an experience of wholeness that's greater than the sum of the parts. In addition to a Life-Cycle Celebrant's usual creativity, professionalism, and attention to detail, many community ceremonies require strong partnerships. Life-Cycle Celebrant and longtime community organizer Holly J. Pruett will share a range of examples of ceremonies developed in partnership with workplaces, public agencies, and community organizations.

Topics:

  • Developing your partnership strategy: Who, What, Where, When & Why
  • Role definition: Who leads & who follows?
  • Special considerations for working with public agencies & elected officials
  • Working with seasonal and annual rhythms
  • Responding to an unmet need vs new ways of walking through old portals
  • Crisis response: deciding for yourself, is this in your wheelhouse

WHO: Your guides for the evening will be Holly J. Pruett along with an NTI moderator. Holly is a Certified Life-Cycle Celebrant™ with a 40-year history of working with local, state, and national non-profit organizations as a community organizer, executive director, and consultant advancing LGBTQ and women’s rights and racial, social, and environmental justice.

Holly J. Pruett works with families and communities to create unique, personalized ceremonies that support life transitions, including advising families who wish to care for their dead at home. Holly is professionally trained as a Life-Cycle Celebrant, Home Funeral Guide, and End-of-Life Doula; certified as NEDA Proficient by the National End-of-Life Doula Alliance, and in Thanatology by the Association for Death Education & Counseling. For 40 years she has worked with local, state, and national non-profit organizations as a community organizer, executive director, and consultant advancing LGBTQ and women’s rights and racial, social, and environmental justice.
